Happy New Year!

Hi my lovelies, I know, I know - I have been silent again!

Turns out moving completely threw everything off and knocked my confidence with alot of things, so I can only apologise for not posting - I just haven't really known what to say!

I am so sorry, but I have vowed to take better care of myself this year, that means sorting out a doctor and stopping neglecting things and going into a little bubble!

Love you all,
And I hope you have a very happy new year celebration!

We have moved!

Hello lovelies,

I'm so sorry I've been so quiet these past couple of weeks, what with moving and Christmas around the corner, I've felt a bit overwhelmed and haven't really had a chance to even do anything let alone blog! :(

We are now moved into Russ's nans house, which was really nice of her, and even though there was a bit of a mishap within the first couple of days, everything is getting sorted slowly but surely and we are settling in nicely.

I've done alll my Christmas shopping and wrapped it all (I am obsessed with wrapping presents!) And yet we still have no Christmas tree :( Russ's nan doesn't want to put one up because she says the cats will pull it down, so i'm hoping to get a small one for our room, because at the moment we're not looking very Christmassy in here!

I have a few video ideas planned, And hopefully I will be able to film those tomorrow, so they should be up soon (Hopefully...)

Anyway, I just wanted to keep this short and sweet, just a quick check in to let you all know i've not dropped off the planet! I'm still very much here :)

Speak to you all soon!

Moving house! Again..

This is Russ, the last time we moved! Look at his face bless him :P

Hi lovelies!

So as I previously stated, Russ and I have had to find somewhere to live before Christmas, and LUCKILY, his lovely mum managed to persuade his nan to let us stay there til we get back on our feet. (Lots of love to you if you're reading!)

So we are moving there on Saturday, and even though I have moved many a-time before, and Russ has had his fair share of moving also, it is still so stressful, I hate the random bits'n'bobs, what do you do with them?! They're too small to put anywhere, and too random to categorise. I'm so rubbish at packing, it's scary.

I'm really glad we've got somewhere now though, because it was getting so stressful that Russ was getting really ill, and he stopped eating and I was getting so worried that it made me ill, so not a great time!
I also am having a bit of a nightmare because I have a doctors appointment back in Southampton tomorrow morning, and I have to go on my own, to talk about my depression... and my agoraphobia. Now I'm just putting it out there, but that seems pretty bloody ridiculous, don't you think? I am still awake and stressing about having to leave the house, and even worse, on my own, and it's almost 1am, I'm nowhere near tired, and I need to leave the house at about 9am.. Awesome. Help! :(

Anyway, I'm clearly having a bit of a nightmare in my thoughts but I just wanted to check in with you guys and let you know what's going on, and so I will probably be a bit quiet for a while whilst moving, and then I've got a load of videos to film for you lot!

Thanks for reading my rambles!

Zzzz..

Hi Readers, I'm sorry I've been a little quiet as of recent. I have been really excited about the lead up to Christmas since about October, and I had some really crappy news on Monday.

Basically, Russ and I haven't had the best of luck with Landlords and finding a place to live, so we have been lucky enough that a friend of ours let us rent his lounge as the previous girl was moving out, and we had nowhere to go, and we have been sleeping on the floor of his lounge for the past 3 months, and paying alot of money in regards to rent for this, which is annoying but hey, He's a greedy man and everyone knows it.

On Monday he told us that he wanted his lounge back and asked us to leave in a month, Yes that's right, A month. Meaning we have until Christmas Day to find somewhere else to live. As i'm sure you can all imagine, this is very stressful and difficult, as we do not have any money in the way of savings, and neither of us drive. We also have pets, which seems to make finding a place to live about 10 times harder.

I will try and keep as active as I can on this, but alot of our time is consumed with trying to find somewhere to live, and obviously at the moment, that is the most important thing for me right now.

I appreciate your patience and I hope to do a couple of gift guides well before Christmas.

Thankyou all, lots of love!

How to: Make cinnamon swirls just like Cinnabon!

My cinnamon swirls!
(they didn't last long)

Hi readers!
I made cinnamon swirls again yesterday, and I think they were the best ones I've made! Russ says they taste just like Cinnabon, and I can safely say there were none left by the end of the day! So i'm going to share with you my recipe and a link to a tutorial on YouTube I made for them you can find here. I was incredibly tired when I recorded the voiceover, and only realised how slurry and tired I sound after it had been uploaded and linked to everywhere -So I apologise for that :P

The ingredients you will need are;

  • 1 sheet of Jus-Roll puff pastry (You can make your own, I'm just impatient)
  • 100g light brown sugar
  • 60g caster sugar
  • 40-50g of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of Ground cinnamon
First things first! Pre-heat your oven to about 220°c/200°c in a fan assisted oven, or Gas mark 7.

Now the method I use, Is to put all the ingredients (Except for the puff pastry) into a heavy based saucepan, and melt it all down to a syrup. I do this on a medium heat and keep stirring.

Once the butter is melted and the sugar is pretty much dissolved, I pour this over the (cold) rolled out puff pastry, and spread it out.

I then roll up the pastry, and slice the roll in about 2-3cm widths.

Place these slices sideways down onto a greased baking tray, (or you can use parchment paper)

Brush some milk over the slices, and round the sides.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes.

Now the icing is optional, I usually use about 3 teaspoons of icing sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence and milk until i get the right consistency for me, but in the video I ran out of vanilla essence so I used butter and a bit of boiling water and milk. You can make it however you like!

Drizzle over, and enjoy!

Comment below with any more recipes you would like, or if you have tried them and how they worked out for you!

How to: Make Shortbread biscuits

My homemade Shortbread biscuits

Hello readers! Today Russ wasn't feeling so great, So we spent most of today snuggled up in bed, and I was watching alot of 'Kirsties Homemade Britain' on YouTube, And there was a bakery competition one, which made me feel like taking over the kitchen again, and I hadn't made any shortbread in a couple of years so I figured I would make some up, and whilst they were chilling I made some Christmassy Cupcakes too, The shortbread came out lovely as it used to, So I thought I would share with you how I make them, As i'm told pastry is difficult to make! (I think I get my baking talents from my late grandmother, and my mum makes pretty good pastry too) So onto the ingredients needed, I like my shortbread with a bit of thickness to it, So I managed to get 12 bars and Russ wanted a shortbread man as he doesn't like gingerbread, But I think I could have made about 15 bars from these measurements. Obviously they will vary with thicknesses!

Ingredients:
2oz Caster sugar, plus extra to finish
4oz Butter, softened
6oz Plain flour, plus extra for flouring your surface.

And thats it! The key is to have cold hands, a cold work-surface, and cold ingredients! I usually get my ingredients measured out, stick it all into my mixing bowl, and then pop it in the fridge for about 3-5 minutes just to chill it through a little bit. I also run my hands and wrists under cold water before I take the bowl out of the fridge.

After you have done all this, you need to rub the flour and sugar into the butter with your fingertips, try to work quickly as you can, and try not to get your palms involved, as they are alot warmer than your fingertips. You want the mixture to be like breadcrumbs.

Once it is just combined and like breadcrumbs, then you need to gather it together and put it onto your lightly floured work surface. Press it into a rectangular shape with your fingertips, making sure to leave enough thickness for it to be rolled and still be thick enough to your preference. About 1-2cm thick is good for me.

You then want to roll your shortbread gently to the thickness you want, but try not to roll it too much. or with too much pressure, as you don't want to overwork the pastry. You can press it to the thickness you want with your fingers if you wish, I just like mine to be flat, and it saves from handling the pastry too much.

Now you want to grease a baking tray, and then take a sharp knife and slice into rectangles, I do mine about 2-3 inches long, and about 1 inch wide. Then prick the tops with a fork. Put these onto your baking tray, and pop them in the fridge to chill for about 30 minutes.

Now it's time to pre-heat the oven to 190°c.

After 30 minutes of chilling in the fridge, and your oven is heated to 190°c, pop the baking tray straight into the oven, and cook the shortbread for about 10-15 minutes, you want the edges to light golden brown. When they're ready, take them out the oven and place them on a cooling rack. Sprinkle some caster sugar on top and wait to cool. (They're also lovely warm out the oven if you can't wait!) You can enjoy these how they are, or to add an extra bit of yummyness, melt some of your favourite chocolate gently in a bain marie, (keeping it in temper) and dip the shortbread halfway into the chocolate, put back onto a baking tray and pop them in the fridge until the chocolate hardens again.

This is my foolproof way of making shortbread, Let me know how they turned out for you!

Urban Decay Naked 3 (Palette and Swatches)

So as I'm sure you have all heard, there was a couple of French bloggers who managed to get their hands on the Naked 3 palette from Sephora.
It looks absolutely gorgeous with mostly rose gold tones (swatches below), and
I WANT IT!

Apparently there was a mix-up with the release dates and some people managed to get their hands on them for the few hours that they were out in store before the staff at Sephora realised and they were quickly taken back off the shelves! - I have also seen that there have been a couple of people who have persisted with Sephora, and have managed to buy a palette from them as they of course have them stocked out back until the actual release date.

At first I wondered why it hadn't been released in America first, but then I found out that Urban Decay was bought by L'Oreal who are of course a French brand, so it does make some sense.

A lot of people have said that these palettes are fakes, but this would seriously damage Sephoras reputation, I don't really think that they would do that, but to add to speculation, Urban Decay has denied that this palette exists, however - if you look at the Urban Decay websites home-page, on the second slide it mentions the palette and gives you the option to sign up to be notified for it's release date.

I hope it releases before Christmas, I think they would be smart to, but there are a lot of rumours saying it will be January 2014 before it's released.

Here are some swatches and photos of the Palette, bought by a blogger from Sephora in France after they had been taken off the shelves.

What do you all think about the palette and the buzz, Do you think it was a publicity thing?

Who knows!

Remember, Remember...

...the fifth of November!

Hello Readers, I hope you are all well!

Before I go any further I should probably tell you something about me, Otherwise it will sound very odd! - It may seem odd to you anyway, but at least it is justified in some eyes.
I have depression and social anxiety. I used to have quite severe agoraphobia but this is now 'just' social anxiety, which means I find it very difficult to bring myself to go out into the world. A lot of the time I stay inside, which I know just makes it worse, but I feel safe in my nest and I don't like leaving that security - Especially on my own. My depression makes me feel like it is not worth doing anything, every day. Which is another big reason why I started this blog, and my YouTube channel, So that it gave me a nudge to actually do something with my days whilst I am still unemployed. Sometimes I will post about something that may not seem very interesting or eventful to you, but usually it is a big deal to me, as it usually takes alot for me to leave the house, or to get the courage to sit in front of the camera and talk about something. I hope this helps clear things up!

So here I'll start. Today has been a bit of a mixed day, It started well, I got enough confidence to actually go out and Russ and I went into the town centre. I bought some Loreal Nude Magique - Eau De Teint (I will do a review on that for you guys soon), and Russ did his usual of putting make-up on himself more and more in each shop we go in, (it's quite amusing, better than having a boyfriend who just moans about being bored and not wanting to be there!) and then we went for a meal in Wetherspoons, Ooo, fancy! I then got a bit anxious and wanted to go, Russ had band practice so we went home. We encountered a very odd person on the bus who started slurring words at Russ, neither of us could really work out what he was saying and it made me really nervous but luckily we were only two stops away from our stop.
We got home and Russ had his band practice, I had a nap, and then I got a bit bummed 'cause we had a pretty disappointing Halloween, which is Russ' favourite time of the year (but we took some photos of us all dressed up so at least we can look back at how awesome we looked :D), and now a disappointing Bonfire/Fireworks night as we couldn't go see any, and it's making me think our Christmas is going to be a disappointment aswell the way our luck is going! I really hope it isn't :(

ANYWAY, after that I decided to make some cinnamon swirls, and they are bloomin' lovely, so I'm going to film a "How to" with the recipe tomorrow, and that will be up on my my YouTube channel for you all to see and try! :) Now Russ and I are going to watch horror movies and probably eat all the Cinnamon swirls if our housemates haven't eaten the rest already! :)

Not a very eventful check in, but a check in none the less! I hope all your Bonfire/Fireworks night was better, and I'm sorry that this was a bit of a rubbish post!

Why I'm here!

So first things first, I would like to say a big Hello! and welcome to my blog.

I decided to start a blog because I was inspired by a few vloggers on YouTube, which made me want to start my own channel. I quickly realised that it isn't easy to film videos every day about one thing, or something that has happened that you would like to share, because I also didn't realise HOW MUCH TIME it takes to edit and compress videos! So this is where the idea of blogging came into it, I can use this as my portal to write little things, or something that has happened, and then make a video for bigger things or planned things. I feel for me, this will work better! I am definitely one of those people who write tons of stuff down, and then has to go back and delete a lot because what i'm writing needs to be short and to the point, So the best bit about this is, it's my blog, and I can write what I want and how much I want!
I hope to post a little bit about everything, almost like a Diary, if you will, although I am still pretty new to all this, so please bear with me, and i'm sure i'll have my stabilisers off in no time.

I really hope you enjoy reading my posts, and I will take this moment to say, thank-you for stopping by.
